Cole

This little boy has a special place near and dear to my heart.

I can’t believe he is already one!! And I know his mom and dad are thinking the same thing.

I was there- in the room – when he entered this world, along with his twin sister McKenzie. His mom and dad are very good friends of ours, and I was so thrilled when Shawna first told me the exciting news that she was pregnant. And I was completely honored when they asked me to be present in the delivery room, and capture the birth from behind the lens of my camera. What a beautiful, and deeply personal, experience it is to give birth- and I was humbled to be a part of such an important day for them.

You may remember their touching story when I first wrote about it HERE , and believe it or not- it has already been a whole year.

And while today we mourn the anniversary of sweet McKenzie’s departure from earth and into the gates of Heaven, we also praise God for the amazing gift He has given them in Cole. Cole is such a joy and delight to be around, and he is more loved than you could ever imagine! Sometimes it is hard to see the light through the darkness… but God is faithful- and He always provides a way. It is my belief that Cole was part of this way. With every infectious smile, silly giggle, each milestone that was reached, first laugh, first steps… a little bit of healing takes place. He brings so much joy to their family, and I know that they cherish each moment spent with him.

We are sad that Cole will never know his sister McKenzie. But we are not sad for McKenzie. She celebrated her birthday at the party to top all parties ~ with her Creator.

You are missed McKenzie, and I am forever changed and touched by the moments that I got to spend with you.
