If you know me and my family, then you know that I have a close-knit group of girlfriends that are practically an extended arm of my family. This group of women has been my “inner circle” for years and years, and we have seen each other go through some of life’s hardest moments. You name it, and this group has seen it. We sit at our usual table at Starbucks every other Tuesday, and we catch up, laugh, talk about the current book we are reading, share, vent, cry and pray together. There is no topic off-limits, and there isn’t anything that we can’t share with one another. Oh, if those walls inside that little corner of Starbucks could talk, they would tell you that they’ve seen and heard it all!
So when Alison and Amanda shared some news and personal prayer requests about their father-in-law, it was time to circle the wagons. Because thats what we do- we huddle up around one another, and we pull each other through it.
In April of this year, Brent Robinson was diagnosed with stage 4 abdominal cancer. Being no stranger to cancer myself, I know the deep pain and fear it can quickly spill over the family. But Brent is not alone in this. God is bigger than cancer, bigger than fear, and bigger than we could imagine. Sometimes we can’t see God’s plan, but we can find some comfort in knowing that this was all orchestrated, and that God already knows the outcome.
And so, a few family pictures on a warm Spring night seemed like just the right thing to do.
